What Should Be In My
Social Studies Binder?

Your Social Studies Binder should be a book-like record of everything you’ve done in the class.  Items should be in chronological order (from earliest to latest) on the 3 rings of your binder.  If some of the holes are torn, you can fix them with tape or just “file” them in the right places.

I will periodically check that you are keeping your materials in an organized fashion!

1. Notes on the academic and behavior skills we will be focusing on this year
2. Native American Cultural Regions Notes: For each of the eight cultural region in Chapter 1, you should record three features of the environment and three Native American adaptations
3. Chapter 1 Jeopardy Notes (recommended but not required)
4. Definition of a "Primary Source" (a document, speech, or other sort of evidence written, created or otherwise produced during the time under study).
5. Columbus Trial Witness Packet
6. Anatomy of a Trial Handout (see me if you are missing this)
7. Columbus Trial Evaluation Rubric
8. Chapter 2 Jeopardy Notes (recommended but not required)
9. Handout about the Mini-RP
10. Thesis Statement Rap
11. Strong Theses and Topic Sentences – Student Examples
12. Chapter 5 Reading Notes
13. Handout about the Colonial Town Meeting
